Religions of the World Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Religions of the World - Essay Example lieve that the reason behind the decline in the Protestant membership in America can be traced back to the problems in the separation of church and state. While there are still devoutly religious Americans, they draw the line when the church begins to use the pulpit as a political mouthpiece aimed at furthering the cause and beliefs of the church. We also have the fact that there seems to be an influx of â€Å"designer† religions that people seem to be willing to try out just to see how it fits. Religion is not an outfit that one can try on and take off but the people seem to think that religion should be exactly like that. In fighting among the church leaders have also caused a decline in the church membership as each leader seems to believe that he is the one with the right answers to lifes questions. Whenever the disagreement cannot be resolved, one of the parties more often than not opts to spin off into his own religion in order to promote the values that he believes to be true. Not to be forgotten is the fact that the modern 21st century person simply does not have the time to spare when it comes to fulfilling their religious obligations that they did not ask for in the first place. It was thrust upon them when their parents had them baptized as a baby. Since the modern person is more of a thinking individual now, and does not generally believe in blind faith, they begin to question their religion and often times end up seeking the answers to the questions they have elsewhere. The modern person thinks of religion as a part of a lifestyle that can be picked up and set aside depending upon their need. Since the religion has yet to catch up with the modern ideals of the average American, one can expect that he will not be practicing the religion, if he has not converted yet or simply convinced himself to stop being a follower of an organized cult, then the generational gap between the church and the individual will continue to create a divisiveness between

Essay --

Celine Molfetta Ms.Velazquez U.S. History 1 20 February 2014 Olive Branch Petition The Olive Branch Petition, drafted on July 5th, 1775 by John Dickenson, was, not only, a major turn point in the movement of the American Revolution, but marked a very important point in American History. During the creation process of the Olive Branch Petition, the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill had just taken place. Members within the Continental Congress had opposing views on what approach they should take to dissolve the tension between the colonies and Great Britain. Some strived for Independence no matter the consequences, while others disagreed. These others were Loyalist who didn’t agree with the idea of betraying the King, but still had conflict with taxation without representation. They came to an agreement and decided to send a second request to the King asking for a compromise, in order to come up with a reasonable solution to the ongoing war. This plea was other known as the Olive Branch Petition. As many predicted, the compromise was rejected by Great Britain, resulting in new tensions between their nation and the American Colonies. With this said, the Olive Branch Petition impacted the American Revolution in two significant ways by England refusing the American’s request for a compromise guiding them to go through with war and changing the views of the Loyalist, through how the King handled the petition. The Olive Branch Petition is historically known as one of the most important documentations that influenced the American Revolution, taken place in 1775. The Olive Branch Petition was the last and final opportunity for Great Britain to agree with a nonviolent negotiation with the Colonist... ... on September 2, 1775. When the colonists, specifically the Loyalists, had been told that King George III refused to consider, nor open their letter of negotiation it changed their perspective of him. Many of the Loyalist, no longer wanted to live under the rule of their ignorant King (lively 266). In fact, the ignorance of his actions raised the levels of revolutionary talk and ideas within the colonies. With the colonist, now, being pro-revolutionary, this eventually led to the Colonist winning the American Revolutionary War. Works Cited Lively, Robert. â€Å"Olive Branch petition†. Jollibee Foods and Corporation Essay

Jollibee Foods and Corporation have a good mission/vision statement because it is possible, reachable and curative. There are lots of people, when they are having difficulties; their hobby is to go to a place where they can eat plenty of foods to avoid thinking about their problems. It may help problematic persons to become happy even just for a while. Also, Jollibee is well-known to most Filipino children with it’s ‘’Be Happy’’ trademark. It really attracts people due to the fact that you may really feel happy every time you hear it or even see it. That’s why, aside from the children, even teenagers, adults or I may say the whole members of a family would love to come and eat at Jollibee. The company did well with its mission and its existence is really worth it. However, Jollibee’s vision statement is doing well too. With Jollibee’s rapid growth, it had reached Filipino workers in some other part of the world like United States and Hong Kong. Jollibee then offers Filipino foods instead of the usual menu such as burgers and fries so that Pinoy customers will overcome their loneliness of being far from their country land where their love ones are. The company did a great job because Jollibee is well-loved by the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) until now. So as to compare with any other top brands, Jollibee emphasized ‘’happiness’’ that made them as one of the leading fast food chain in the Philippines.

Learning Mandarin Chinese Love Vocabulary

Is love the universal language? Maybe – but deep gazes and long sighs only go so far. Eventually the need for practical communication kicks in. This list of Mandarin Chinese love vocabulary will help. But love vocabulary only covers part of the complicated spectrum of falling in love. This is especially true of Western / Asian love matches because of the many cultural differences concerning love, sex, and marriage. Although Asians are becoming more westernized in attitudes about love, there are still strong traditional values that guide behavior. This traditionalism is due in a large part to relatively recent freedoms concerning love and marriage. Arranged marriages are still within living memory, and it has only been within the last 10 years that public displays of affection have become acceptable. Valentine’s Day Western holidays such as Christmas and Halloween have gained popularity in Asian countries, and this also extends to Valentine’s Day. Gifts of roses and chocolates are the common ways of saying â€Å"I love you† in Mandarin-speaking countries. But there is also a traditional Chinese Lover’s Day which falls on July 7th of the lunar calendar (August in the Western calendar). July in the lunar calendar happens to be â€Å"Ghost Month† – the time of year when spirits wander the earth. According to legend, the 7th day of the 7th month is the time when the goddess Zhi Nu can be reunited with her earthly lover. Modern-day lovers celebrate Lover’s Day with gifts of flowers. The number of flowers is significant: one red rose means you are my only love, eleven roses means you are a favorite, ninety-nine roses means I will love you forever, and 108 roses means marry me.
